A lifetime baseball man, Kim In-Sik began coaching in the professional ranks as bench coach for the Haitai Tigers in 1986. He left the Tigers after the 1989 season to become the manager of the Ssangbangwool Raiders. His greatest accomplishments came as skipper of the Doosan Bears, the team he guided to Korean Series titles in 1995 and 2001.
Kim’s baseball resume features accomplishments in international play as well. He served as bench coach for the South Korean National Team in the 2000 in Summer Olympics, helping them defeat rival Japan 3-1 in the bronze medal game. Two years later Kim was named manager of the national team and led them to the gold medal in the 2002 Asian Games, beating Chinese Taipei in the finals.
Kim also managed the national team in the 2006 and 2009 World Baseball Classic, reaching the semi-finals each time, and the finals in 2009.
In the collection is a ball autographed by the man who has devoted his entire life to the game of baseball in his homeland.
