Barry Larkin is a Cincinnati man through and through. Born and raised in the Queen City, he attended one of the city’s most prolific baseball high schools, Archbishop Moeller High School. The institution has produced two Cooperstown men – Larkin and Ken Griffey Jr. – and 12 other big leaguers.
From 1988-2000, Larkin made eleven All Star appearances before playing in his final Mid Summer Classic in his final season of 2004. The shortstop played his entire 19-year Major League career in Cincinnati.
By the time he finished his career, Larkin earned 9 Silver Sluggers and three Gold Gloves. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2012. Larkin, Johnny Bench and Bid McPhee as the only Cooperstown men to play their entire careers in Cincinnati.
After signing this contract in March of 1990, Larkin helped lead the Reds to a World Series title. The terms of the deal call for Larkin to be under Topps control through the end of the 1993 season.
